All of my old links are dead. Philips says they make these in 9005 and 9006, but I can't find them anywhere. Any clues?

They are a step above the Philips Premium, which were 30% brighter (at 75m) than a standard halogen. These are 50% brighter, and did well in independent tests. I was about the buy the Premiums when I read about these.

Then I realized that my old source for Premiums (www.autooptiks.com) was a dead link. Now I can't even find the Premiums in the US.

Well, I had given up on the VP, but I found the HiVisibility(Premium) in 9006 at Kmart for $10 each.

Then, today Philips finally responded with a couple more tips, and I found the VisionPlus in 9005 and 9006 at http://www.aidauto.com/ for the same price plus shipping. (Click http://store.yahoo.com/aid-auto/viplrebu90.html to go directly to the bulbs)

Now, if I can find GE Nighthawks in 893 at WalMart this hunt will be complete.

Are these better than silverstars, or is it just a fancy of yours?

Yes.

Well, the Osram Silverstars are another story, but you have to get those from an overseas source ($$$). They slightly edged out the VisionPlus in an independent test. (See Plus30 Test and Plus 50 Test. )

Do not confuse Osram Silverstars with the Sylvania version sold here in North America. The US Silverstars are very "bright" but also have a blue filter to make them appear more "white." Critical to the fashion concious, but useless or even detrimental in terms of lighting performance, esp. in bad weather. Blue light scatters, causing glare. (Ever wonder why the sky is blue?)

Don't rely on the "deer in the headlights" test, either. Whiter lights appear brighter when you stare into them, but that's again because of glare.

The test that matters is light on the road at a set distance out front of you. In that test, clear bulbs win.

Your link for the +30 and +50 are the same exact link.

And I just ordered a set of the 9005 Visionplus' bulbs.
