Phillips Premiums are better then silverstars. Well much better lumens output though a bit yellower since it's not filtering the spectrum.

If I remember reading correctly the new bulbs (being talked about) are supposed to be "whiter" and brighter.

I just put a set of Phillips Premium ultra blues in the wife's Z24. (rated 4000k)
The Z24 SUCKS for headlight illumination but these bulbs at least doubled the output and it's a clean white light. It had Silvania 9007XV's in it before.

Phillips makes a quality product.
I will look into their bulbs when mine go out. (running plasma bulbs (4000K) and they're decent)

Well, the Osram Silverstars are another story, but you have to get those from an overseas source ($$$). They slightly edged out the VisionPlus in an independent test. (See Plus30 Test and Plus 50 Test. )

Do not confuse Osram Silverstars with the Sylvania version sold here in North America. The US Silverstars are very "bright" but also have a blue filter to make them appear more "white." Critical to the fashion concious, but useless or even detrimental in terms of lighting performance, esp. in bad weather. Blue light scatters, causing glare. (Ever wonder why the sky is blue?)

Don't rely on the "deer in the headlights" test, either. Whiter lights appear brighter when you stare into them, but that's again because of glare.

The test that matters is light on the road at a set distance out front of you. In that test, clear bulbs win.

Your link for the +30 and +50 are the same exact link.

And I just ordered a set of the 9005 Visionplus' bulbs.

So it is. That site is kind of wierd. I had to "register" to see the other product tests.

Well, most of the text is the same, except for the model descriptions.

Osram Silverstar

Rating: *****
Price: £16.37 (mail order)

Type: Plus 50 per cent

Beam: 96.9

The flagship bulb in Osram's range, the Silverstar's 75m figure was only a fraction better than that of arch-rival Philips (right), but it performed significantly better at 50m. Add a price advantage, and the Osram's plus 50 per cent competitor is our Best Buy.

Philips VisionPlus

Rating: ****
Price: £19.98 (mail order)

Type: Plus 50 per cent

Beam: 95.1

It's behind Osram's finest, but Philips' top-of-the-range option is a superb bulb which performed comfortably ahead of the plus 30 per cent premium versions. You just cannot ignore that performance, which is why the VisionPlus merits our Recommended award.

It's also interesting to read their product test notes on their "standard" bulbs. They threw in a bunch of "blue" bulbs, including PIAA Hyperwhites, and they all performed worse than the standard halogens.

I haven't read that. For sure, it's a clear bulb with no "white" or "bright" hype.

Here's the Philips lit:

I received my VisionPlus bulbs yesterday, and the bulbs are not in their proper packaging sockets. One bulb is wedged in the corner and the other is flopping around. I hope it's ok to install.

Are these supposed to look like imitation HIDs...

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

2 years? Damn, my bulbs usually last about 6 months.

I've gone from cheap to good bulbs and all last just as long. I gave up.

Does anyone have any pictures of them installed on any car? It doesn't have to be a Contique. I searched online and can't find any pics.
