Well I did some road Tests comparing the Roar and the AFE. I found some interesting finds. The Roar seems to work great with the Factory Computer programming and performs great with the SAFC set to 0 on high settings ( voltage reading for the Roar is about .88 at WOT ). On the contrary the AFE falls flat on it's face with the factory programming because it flows so much more air apparently ( voltage reading for the AFE is at about .82 at WOT ) Clearly the AFE is leaning the car out alot and for that reason it required tuning with the SAFC. Realize that my exhaust system, optimized TB assist greatly in a lean condition and also the fact that the AFE filter I installed is 8" in height. After tuning the SAFC oh what a difference it made. Now for some Tests. I normally test my car just a few miles down the road from where I live. There is a very long strip of road that has no houses and few cars. I've got an area that I test from point A telephone pole to B telephone pole, just a tad over 1/4 mile. With the AFE revving at 3000rpm and launching I would hit 100mph at point B, this was don't a number of times. With the Roar installed I'd pull up to point A, rev to 3000 and launch and I could only hit 97 after numerous Tries. I'd like to add that previously I tested the Roar against the KKM and the Roar was hands down the winner. So what's the verdict. The AFE has demonstrated it's ability to flow substantial amounts of air and perform superbly with tuning on a larger AFE.

I've concluded that if you don't plan on modding the hell out of your Tour' and don't plan on installing a SAFC or similar FMU, I'd reccomend a smaller 6" or 7" AFE Filter. wink
