I will never let this thread die and why stop it as long as we are all getting along so well.

If Brady wins 1 more superbowl, Farve can't be mentioned in the same sentence. If Brady never played another game, he is a Hall of Famer.

Well, if you are talking about tough QBs you could. But not as far as success goes. He already has 3x as many SB victories. And don't even give me anything about Farve playing on inferior teams. For a good chunk of the mid-late 90s, they had the best team in the league.

Super Bowl victories are far from the only measure of success as a quarterback. They are overrated.

So, Manning, Marino, and Moon are at or near the top of your list?

Marino yes. Manning, not yet. Moon, no.

I think intangibles also matter. Leadership. Motivation. Spirit. Getting 110% from your players. Those are things I expect from a great quarterback.

Let me ask you... do you think a great quarterback could play his career on losing teams?

Here we go again with the 'he has...SB victories'. I don't think Tom Brady accomplished this on his own.

But many in this forum (and elsewhere) believe the Pats are the greatest team ever (). So, 1) You would expect that 'Tom Brady has' 3 Super Bowl rings compared to Favre's 1; 2) Since Favre won a championship with an inferior team, that he is a better quarterback than Brady, right?

Brady's been good for 4 years, Favre that times 3. So if Brady can sustain his level of play for another 8 years, then even I would put him in the same class as Favre. But for now, I am very suspicious of rampant Kurt Warnerism here. Warner put up amazing numbers over the course of a couple years and won a championship. He went down, and his replacement did the same. So how amazing is Kurt Warner now? All Tom Brady has to do is prove he isn't Kurt Warner.

I think you aren't quite following along...

As far as QBs go, I don't necessarily think Brady is top 5. But at this point, you could make a legitimate argument that he is. Dismissing him, to me, is unthinkable. If Manning was on the Pats, I wouldn't be surprised if he had 3 rings by now. But it also wouldn't shock me if they didn't have one. Like Farve, it's a crime that his team didn't win more than 1 considering the talent.

I honestly put Moon in the top 10. Considering he is near the top in most statistical categories despite wasting 6 years in the CFL. Marino's records might not stand if Moon was in the NFL those 6 years.

Yes, a great QB can be on a bad team. See Marino, Manning, and Manning.
