I suffered from CEG Blackout for the last couple of days, I've been dying to get back to this thread...

And that was BEFORE the Red Sox won the World Series, and the Pats won this year. Need I mention the UNDEFEATED BC Basketball team? Who do you think will win it this year???

Right. CNNSI called Madison, Wisconsin the best college sports town. Now, do the Badgers dominate anything?? Best city in sports doesn't necessarily mean the most dominant, obviously, since it was written before the Red Sox won anything.

Interesting you bring up that great BC basketball team....

Blah blah blah blah blah I'm a northeast elitist blah blah blah. As a matter of fact, Omaha is home to what some call the most exciting American sporting event, the College World Series. If that means anything to you. Lincoln, Nebraska, is home to what many consider some of the greatest college football teams ever (consensus has that the 95 team was the greatest ever). Please don't make me dig up magazine articles for you.

What about Los Angeles? A World Series championship (as many as Boston), three NBA titles (three more than Boston), and a hockey team that went deep into the playoffs (deeper than any Boston team has at least in the last five years).

Cliff's Notes: Don't believe the hype.

Actually, no. Sorry, no northeast elitist BS here. Nebraska actually has NOTHING that I'd spend money to come and see. Really. I mean that.

You have got to be kidding me!!! I'm a HUGE baseball fan. It is by far my favorite professional sport to watch, and even I'm bored by College baseball. You actually consider this one of the most exciting american sporting events. Hell, even the Little League World Series is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than college baseball. Seriously, what were you thinking? You were better off staying in the dark. Was this an attempt to impress us?

I'll give you that, but comeon. Its one sport.

WTF? Are you serious? He said in his post the last 5 years. IIRC, Dodgers last World Series victory was around 1988. Clearly that wasn't within the last 5 years.

NBA - Both are great teams. Celtics have sucked for the last few years, but they've been good enough to make a playoff run now and again.

I can't believe you even brought up Hockey.

Kings Record Last 3 years

Boston Record Last 3 Years
2004 - 41-19-15
2003 - 36 31 11
2002 - 43 24 6

Stop stretching already. Accept it and move on...

Thanks for proving my point.

I never said I consider it the most exciting sporting event, but many people do. Perhaps your disdain for college baseball is more evidence of your northeast elitism. Since there are never any good Boston teams, then the sport is boring.

You asked for something that Nebraska has. I gave. Don't excuse it.

Anaheim Angels? Anaheim is to LA what New England is to Boston. If you consider the Patriots a 'Boston' team, then I will consider the Anaheim Angels an LA team.

Celtics a great team? Someone pick me up off the floor. The LOS ANGELES Lakers have 3 championships in the last 5 years. The Celtics have none. To even think about putting the Celtics of the last five years in the same category as the Lakers of the last five years is completely insane. And the only reason they're making a playoff run now is because their conference is so bad they couldn't even compete with the Big 10.

I can. You're forgetting about the Anaheim Angels. Again, don't loosely apply your standards only when they benefit you the most.

Davo, LA doesn't even have a football team. I think that eliminates LA before the conversation even starts.

Neither area has a hockey team worth mentioning in the last 5 years.

Red Sox have been better than the Angels but I'll rank that as a tie for arguments sake.

That leaves 3 NBA titles vs 3 NFL titles. Is there any city in North America that would rather have an NBA title over an NFL title? I seriously doubt it.

Why are we still arguing this? The Pats have won 3 in 4, have been the best team in football for the last 4 years and certainly have to be talked about in the same sentence with the Cowboys and Steelers and with 7-8 more years of 10+ win seasons, they get into 49er territory. We'll have to wait and see if they get there.
