Wow. Now this is an impressive Stat. Here is a little something for all the Naysayers out there!

The combined regular-season record of the New England opponents was 40-8.

Based on regular-season records of opponents, that makes this the the most difficult Super Bowl title in NFL history. The previous best combined regular-season record of opponents on the way to a Super Bowl title was the 1969 Kansas City Chiefs, at 34-7-1.

Seven teams have won the Super Bowl facing opposing teams that averaged better than a .750 winning percentage. They are:

2004 New England Patriots, .833
1969 Kansas City Chiefs, .821
1967 Green Bay Packers, .810
1990 New York Giants, .792
1976 Oakland Raiders, .774
2001 New England Patriots, .771
1972 Miami Dolphins, .762

"The best team ever," and their justification is the existence of a SALARY CAP... talk about over-flippin-hyped.

As someone from (of all places) collegehumor put it... they've won 3 superbowls by a combined NINE POINTS... and that makes them the best team in history??

It's never easy to make comparisons over different generations, so the best you can do is compare them to the contemporaries. Still too early to be called the best ever, in any case.

The Eagles would have won if their crappy-ass quarterback didn't keep losing the ball. Wayyyy to many interceptions and fumbels for my liking, and they were lucky, 1/2 of them didn't even count. McMahon played like crap, normally he is much better of a qb.

the eagle would have won if macnabb threw more td's but he didnt so they lost
the patriots could have had 2 more turnovers, those actually happened but were lost to penalties or reversed calls so what could have happened doesnt matter the eagles lost stop making excuses for them

I will only add 2 things to this whole thread.

1)Jealousy will get you know where!

I have been a Patriot fan since day 1, and that will never change. I have been there with the 1-15 seasons along with the 14-2 seasons (not including 9 straight playoff wins).

As for being one the Best teams eva, it's true.

2)Name any other team that has accomplished what the Pats have done in the last 4 years. Since the salary cap and free agency? And even if you include any era. The Cowboys would be the only ones close.

Brady 9-0 in playoffs (best eva)
Belichick's 10-2 in playoffs (best eva)
3 Super Bowls in 4 year. (tied)

And oh ya, so what if they only win by 3 points a game, it's the 3 W's that count baby.

Wicked Pissa!! I say!!!

Bill Jenkins I am moving to Team Ford as of 08/01/05 (www.teamfordlv.com). I will post new info when it's ready.
