Well,

I finally got around to routing and trying out the remote air portion (aka big blue hose) of the remote air filter kit. I'm affraid all i can say is ehh.

Some folks said they had a difficult time getting the fender liner back in after installing the hose. I had no problems and though i would post a pic of the routing:

I've been running the filter without the hose for several weeks now, and i do like the filter. Sounds like a KKM so you get that sudo forced induction sound from under the hood.

At first I didn't hink i would be able to get the hose on the end of the filter due to the tight bend required and the lack of space, but with a little finagling i finally got it on. Well i lost bottom end right off the bat. MOst of my driving is stop and go so i never noticed any bennefit from having the hose attached. So, i pulled the hose back off in favor of the stop and go bottom end.

Anyone out there find a good funnel ram type end for the hose that will fit in a fog light opening? I've checked all the places i can think of and have yet to find one.

So for $75 you loose torque?

Sounds like a definite "no-go" mod to me...

I'm not the guru of intakes here but I thought you lost a little bit of bottom end with most intakes anyways. I thought that was were the top end gain was beneficial. Good to know though because I thought about getting that intake whenever my funds came available. :p

Bruce, Bulter Built Motorsports may have what you need. Click here for their line of brake ducts, oil cooler ducts, and NACA ducts.

There are some other brands too. I'd check out www.racesearch.com and do a search for air ducts.

If you got really brave, you could get Alan to put an NACA duct in your fender right where the hole is to the inner fender, right by the drivers door. HAHA laugh

That filter is TINY!!! I bet that's part of your problem.

What's the ID of that MAF adapter? Looks pretty small???

The only thing that the hose gives you is a cold air supply when moving. Nice way to fight heat soak.

Hence the reason for the Filter Envey from your post about completing some of your mods! the ID is the same as the od of the stock se maf.

Once i find a funnel ram type end for the fog light opening, i will give it another try. I think the bottom end loss is due to adding a restriction to the reverse cone end. My eventual plan is to build an airbox around the filter that is fed by the hose, probably not the bat hose but a larger diameter break cooling hose or something similar.

Thanx John. I came across butler built when searching a week of so ago. I'm looking for a round funnel that starts at the ID of the fog light opening and tappers to the ID of the cooling duct.

Probably have to make due with some non specific parts, epoxy, dremel tool, and good old duck tape!
