The only thing that the hose gives you is a cold air supply when moving. Nice way to fight heat soak. Hence the reason for the Filter Envey from your post about completing some of your mods! the ID is the same as the od of the stock se maf. Once i find a funnel ram type end for the fog light opening, i will give it another try. I think the bottom end loss is due to adding a restriction to the reverse cone end. My eventual plan is to build an airbox around the filter that is fed by the hose, probably not the bat hose but a larger diameter break cooling hose or something similar.
