Originally posted by Mystic: I get a periodic "gronk gronk" sound coming from my front left wheel. The sound comes and goes but definitely changes in pitch with suspension movement and mostly disappears when the wheel is turned one way vs. another while moving. The sound happens in time with the wheel rotation.
I had the wheel bearing replaced yesterday since (coincidentally) it needed replacement as it had started to droan loudly like a truck, so know it isn't a wheel bearing.
I hope it's not the transmission but am sure it's not an issue with the brakes (disks, calipers, pads, etc.) since I had the rotors and pads replaced 3 months ago and the sound pre-dates the brake job anyway. I don't think it's suspension since the sound only happens with wheel rotation and I can hear it faintly sometimes even pulling away on a level, paved driveway.
I was wondering if anyone wanted to confirm my suspicion that it's the driveshaft.
Thanks much,

Gee thanx for the input guys and gals. I'll let you know what I find out. I've booked an appointment to have my driver's side axle replaced.
Wish me luck.
