Really, I heard the exact opposite from a Hyundai owner

it is a 97 btw

You are talking about an 8 year difference in model years. How could you compare a 97 accent/elantra to a 2004/2005 Sonata? A few things have changed in those years, most notably, the length of the warrantee, and hyundais place in the quality rankings.

Very true! The hyundai's have come a long way. The 2005 Sonata I purchased is the LX model. Looks very very nice and quality is excellent. Doors close with a solid stiff feel. If quality owns up to what Consumer Reports says, this will be the best car I ever owned. I post some pics soon.

Can you imagine how much different ownership of a Contour would be if the Contour's came with 10 year or 100,000 mile warranty and 5 year bumper to bumper!!!!!!!!

If the contour did have a 100,000 mile warranty, it wouldnt be needed, car is too reliable
I'm just going with what I hear about Hyundai, personal opinions from owners, if the company doesnt have a strong line of reliability, then I'm not gunna trust them right away. Sure the car runs fine while its new, Most cars run great while new. Ill reconsider 6-8 years later. Depending on how well they hold themselves up, and how Hyundai will find any reason to terminate the warranty. Ford has been a reliable company to our family. I own a good one, my brother owns a good ford Truck, my dad owns a Ford truck that runs very well, My mom owns a 94 Escort thats never been in the shop, grandmother owns a 95 thunderbird which also is great, and has never been in shop for engine/car problems directly. With that said, I'm going to keep Ford as my first choice always. Why goto something else when one product performs well?
