Hi guys, I have a 2000 SVT. I think the fuel pump needs to be cleaned or replaced. I've been having some hesitation issues for a while and they are getting worse. Anyone in the Eglin AFB area that can assist me? I'm free on the weekends, I just don't have a place to do automotive work.
I'll bribe with pizza and beverage of your choice! =)

Thanks

Tim

Wellsir, for a fuel pump R & R, you gotta drop the tank and (IIRC) get at something under the back seat; methinks.

Don't have to drop the tank, just go in under the back seat.

But that method requires snipping up the sheet metal a bit, doesn't it?? No biggie, that's what I did. Then again, I'm not driving an SVT, just a regular, ordinary, boring, SE.

Your choice,

easy = snip, snip

hard = run low on fuel & drop tank (PITA)

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I'm not sure, but I don't think it always has to be cut. I'm pretty sure I've seen people post that they did have to cut it and others that didn't.

Hi guys!
Cutting it doesn't bother me at all, especially if it makes the job so much easier. I just don't feel comfortable doing the job myself. I can also up the ante and include homemade cookies, if anyone is interested. =)

Thanks!

Tim

For cookies & milk as the beverage of choice, I would do it in a heartbeat! I'd even date your ugly sister! But I live in West Palm Beach, way down near the tip of the,... um, peninsula.

4 or 5 pizzas, eh? I'd pay money to see someone eat all that and still be able to move afterwards.

How long does it normally take to do the whole fuel pump task? I'd be willing to drive an hour or two, if it would make it more convient for someone else.

Thanks!

Heh, just come to the Deal's Gap meet. They've got a pizza buffet for $5 up there. We made 'em go make 2 more pizzas for us.

It can be done in a day, easily. Tiv on the boards actually did his in an AutoZone parking lot. He bought the new pump and tossed it in before he left. Basically, if you know what you're doing, it's a breeze. Have you got a Hayne's Manual? I'd suggest picking one up and looking up the intructions for a fuel pump removal & reinstallation.

I would, but I'm more than an hour or two away. Georgia is kinda in the way.
