I have a 98 CSVT. I used to have a superchip, but at a recent dyno run I saw that I lost 5 hp in the top end. The guy running the dyno said this is common on mildly modified engines. All I have is a KKM intake and a Mass Air Meter. Maybe your setup is different enough to warrant a chip, I would spend the $250 on something else.

Ground Control Coilovers
Koni Adjustable struts
Sub-frame connectors
Slotted rotors
Carbon Fibre pads
Stainless Steel Braided line
KKM Intake
Pro-Flow Mass-air Meter
22mm rear sway bar
Polyurethane motor mount inserts

Judging by the gains folks have gotten on here, I would save your dough for a mod with documented gains, like an off road y pipe or the Apex'i S-AFC or possibly a new Pro-M MAF with calibrator. The reason I say this is that I put the correctly coded diablosport chip on my SVT that just had intake and exhaust and the chip was dyno proven to cost me 8 hp (173 witout, 165 with) and 6 ft lbs of torque (155 without, 149 with) with losses documented all along both power curves. Knowing what I know now, I do not think I will ever buy another off the shelf chip. I plan on eventually getting an autologic chip based on a professional dyno-tune for my new mustang way out in the future after all my mods are done.

Just my 2/100 of a dollar based on some hard learned lessons. Don't waste your $250 unless you have a stock car...but if you go with one the superchips seem to be better for the tours.

Once Autologic actually writes the program for the Contour/Focus PCM... frown

I too will be in that line whenever they do... laugh

WOW! i didnt think it made a car slower, i guess that 20hp that they say you will get isnt for a car with only intake and exhaust. well thanks for the info and saving me money.

well i think they say 'up to 20' or whatever the figure may be depending on your car...

i've been wondering about something for a while and this post reminded me again....

taking into account that some of u are or have seen losses instead of gains on slightly modded cars...maybe it would be a good idea to get a chip first on stock car to get the gains it may give u....and thennnnnnnn....to add intake and exhaust on top of that instead of adding the chip to the intake/exh

any thoughts???

95 contour se...dark blue...monsterflow air filter...remanuf atx...wiring harness recall or bust!!!96k miles...motorcraft awsf32pp plugs & red ford racing 9mm wires...kvr black plated cross-drilled rotors & carbon fiber pads...currently undergoing renovation...excuse our dust!!!
are my dodgers for real????

To be fair to diablo and superchips, significant mods to intakes or exhausts can cause horsepower loss. If you have no cat, gutted pre-cats, a y-pipe or true duals, you will probably see a loss since the stock program can not compensate for that.

On the other hand, if you are like me with just mild exhaust, electrical and intake mods it can make a big difference on an ATX.
