I believe that it depends on the angle of the inverted cone and the size of the air inlet. Check out that site I posted and you will see their version of the truth... Who knows? As for the stock filter, well, it is designed mostly for noise control. the size of the air path is very restrictive. You notice a dramatic increase in engine (valve) noise with the open air element. I think that it is a good thing, but again, who knows?
