I have calculated that I may need to invest 7500 into the tour to possibly key it running well beyond 82k which is much more than the car is worth. So how would I get rid of the tour if I decided to get rid of it? I do not think I would want to sell it knowing that the next owner would have to invest so much in to keeping it running properly.

What options do I have other than selling it.

$7500? What have you done to your car, rally race it?

OK, a few questions here.

How old is the car? ATX or MTX? What's wrong with it?

If it's a pre-98, the engine wiring is covered by a 10 year/100,000 mile total replacement warranty. I don't think the warranty applies to post-98s, but then again, it shouldn't need to. I would advise you to get the 99M03 recall done, at the very least, to replace all the wiring. The suspension work can be done for a relatively reasonable cost, depending on what components you're putting in. And the transmission...that's another kettle of fish but without details, no one can really advise you on that.

But, consider that for some reason he halved that. Would you be willing to put 3500 in your Tour? I wouldn't. Not because I don't like my car, but eventually the money going in to keep it on the road can better be spent on a newer, much more reliable car.

I wouldn't sell it if it had so many problems. Unless I told the buyer that it's going to need a ton of work.

You can part out parts but demand isn't that high.

Do you still owe on the car?

Well, scratch my response, then...I just checked out some of his old posts and I think he's right about putting it out of his misery.

If I were you, I'd try posting it as a mechanic's special on Craigslist (http://newyork.craigslist.org/ and just pick the closest city to you).

If you decide to get rid of it, and you can't find anybody willing to buy it in the condition its in, a worst case scenerio might be to donate it to charity. You will be allowed to take a tax deduction of whatever the charity gets for it at auction. But if some of the serious problems are masked well enough to hide them for the short time the car is on the auction block, it may bring more than its worth.

"How old is the car? ATX or MTX? What's wrong with it?"

95 lx atx vt 82k

I am looking at future cost to resolve the problems with this car.

I took this car to a blue oval ford and they told me that I am outside of the 99m03 program.

I am posting this because of a post I put in the tranny forum about the shift problems I occurred last night while driving locally around town. Shiftint from gear 2 to three took a long time and caused the engine to rev higher than normal before it shifted. I still think that it is a sensor problem like the tss or rss not working properly which I will check out first at AAMCO if this problem continues to occur.

But the fact of the matter is that I see myself dumping a great deal more money into this car this year to keep it running properly.

Thought the honda element a car I like, no jokes please, would cost me 500 a month and in a year of car payments I could fix my tour to run much better that it is running now.

But I am coming to the realization that I may need to replace the vehicle with the MTA and foot power for a while if this tranny problem is not easily fixed.

Yes you could be out of the time for the 99m03 program. It was 10 years/100,000 miles from the in service date. I would check and see if somebody can find out when your in service date is but it is very possible to have run out of time on it now.
