Hoosier. Compare the same muffler (and same number) F-body style Ultraflow SS: 573cfm F-body style Super Turbo: 385cfm The ultraflow (straight through design) flows 49% more air. That's a significant increase even on this poor muffler design! 17281 (UF): 700cfm 17730 (ST): 260cfm That's a 169% increase for comparable SVT style mufflers. (Though neither are not bolt in. The body is much longer! The SVT uses tiny 10" mufflers) We won't even throw in the Welded series which outflows the SS series & is cheaper to boot!

DemonSVT, Here is my reasoning...btw not a fight Yes, Ultraflow Welded and SS are awesome, but expensive. My point is the flow of two mufflers is as good as one expensive muffler, especially for an SE. According to Dynomax, Looking at the numbers the 17730 would flow 520 with duals. Single 17266 would flow 573. Dual 17733 would flow 820. See my point? I will run a single 17733 for 420 flow or good for 186 RWHP according dynomax.

hmmmm, i would get the BEST mufflers, but iam not doing anything else to my car... i have weapon R intake, Shoshop ypipe no cat and right now the Stock SE exhaust, i dont want to spend $200+ for best stuff to put on my current SVT exhaust, it has no res and mufflers, just the pipeing... i was thinking of just putting on a muffler on my stock SE then remembered i had the SVT stuff... i was also thinking of cutting off the rear spit on the SVT exhaust and replacing it with a 2.25 pipes just like a SE exhaust, just larger pipeing, and then putting on a 2.25 muffler there.... i figure that would work about the same as 2 2" mufflers... I know straight thru is the BEST but i dont have the money to buy them, i have family with a shop to put stuff on, but since iam not doing anything more to car i figure TUBROS will work fine...
i still never got a reply on what the LARGEST dimensions of a rear muffler i can have, i notice on EBAY somebody is selling magnaflow XL turbos for 50 bucks... but they are 20 inches + long...

Said once, will say it again.
Stay away from "Turbo" mufflers. That word "Turbo" sucks in soooo many people it aint funny.

BTW - that's "Crank" HP they rate them at...
So 186 Crank HP for a single 2.5" ST on 2.5" piping. (yes the entire system must be the same size in order to use that HP rating)
...and like Aussie said. Turbo mufflers really do not perform well. Especially at higher rpms! Dynomax ST is the best turbo muffler out there and it's still barely passable...
Red contour - if you look at my second post I posted the stock SVT mufflers are 10" in length. They are a unique size unfortunately. Getting a 14" bodied muffler to fit would take some custom piping work. Then if you are going to redo the duals. Might as well go 2.25" mandrel. If you are doing that you might as well replace the crappy stock Y-split. Then all you are left with is the factory 2.25" mandrel single piping...

You NEED a resonator if you are goin catless, no doubt about it - unless of course you LIKE sounding like a pissed of bumblebee. PS Flowmasters bite....

PS Flowmasters bite.... FlowMasters not only bite they suck ass too!!! I can tell you flat out: No cats, resonator, and 2 small turbo mufflers will NOT cut it!!! Rasp here, Rasp there, practically Rasp at idle... I can't believe more people haven't complained about this before... It's like the muffler heatshields are loose and rattling constantly. Except there are no heatshields... I'm even contemplating putting a cat back on to help kill the rasp!!! (and bigger mufflers of course!)
