I had a hood liner. Emphasis on HAD... laugh

The only thing it was good for was increasing under hood temps by 20+ degrees and rubbing the coating off my manifold.

In hindsight I can't believe it took me 6 months before I took it off...

I gota' ask again, especially to Demon. How do you measure the temps under the hood. 20+ degrees?

In response, I have the CTA Aluminum Intake pipe with a conical mass air flow filter.

What's that Thermo Tec stuff? Where do I get it, and how do I apply it?
Try Thermo Tec\'s Website you can use the wraps to cover up certain part of the engine.
This will help keep the temps down.

I tend to leave my A/C on. I know it causes some parasitic drag but it also keeps the fans running all the time, and on my Duratec, it does keep the engine running cooler. It also keeps the A/C in better shape, since it's operating and circulating.

No, the hood liner is like a thick mat/carpet that covers the entire underneath of the hood. You are talking about weather striping that runs from side to side (right to left) at the top of the hood.

But a number of people on this BB have removed that WS with no probem of water getting in. They have even gone as far as to raise the rear of the hood (near the windshield) a little for more air circulation. I'd try it but not until I see a pretty good How-To. frown
Advice from TH was to not remove that "weatherstripping," as it is crucial to proper airflow through the radiator.

Reason? You want low pressure behind the radiator, and high pressure in front of it, to help push/pull air through the cooling fins. That should make the purpose of the rubber strips above the rad and the little air dam below it pretty obvious, but what about the "WS" up by the cowl? The cowl is a high pressure area. Without the WS there, air will enter the engine bay from the back, raising pressure behind the rad, thus reducing airflow across the rad. Removing the WS or raising the back of the hood for ventilation does not constitute "cowl induction." It just makes your engine run hotter.

IAT sensor and OBD-II software.

I just left it dangle (so to speak wink ) in parts of the engine compartment to get readings. (it only reaches so far)

The difference when stopped was small (about 10-20 degrees) The difference after periods of driving was big (40 degrees plus!)
Heatsoak after driving was reduced by almost 50 degrees too. Though I normally open my hood and let the engine cool down!

With the added fact I removed the rear rubber WS, and lifted the rear of the hood a hair the under hood temps when driving are near ambient temperature!!! It helps to move air through the engine bay - I don't see how or why it would stop air going through the radiator??? My engine coolant temps were normal last summer!

I can actually get the real IAT numbers (in the airflow) below ambient if at highway speeds or better! laugh

Heatsoak in stop and go is down 30-40 degrees too.
