No WD40 is no good...use carb cleaner, and spray it into the opening and tilt it on end and let it sit for awhile.
Rinse it out again with another shot of carb cleaner, put your finger over the opening with it full of the spray and shake it to clean inside good. You might want to pick up a new gasket before you start...I damaged mine and had to make a new one.
