When I was growing up, having a car with a stick shift was a sign of poverty.....only poor people couldn't afford the $800 an automatic transmission cost. If you could afford only ONE option, it was always an automatic transmission. Most of us baby boomers still feel the same way. The last I knew, the vast majority of new Corvettes were sold with automatics. I drove a 5 speed stick shift in Capri's and BMW's for 22 years, but when I bought the Mystique, I decided that I was going back to automatics. Don't regret it one bit.
