On a road trip to Vegas, suddenly I noticed that my right turn signal, when engaged, was going really fast. My roommate, riding next to me, said that usually means that the bulb had gone out. A couple of days later, the same thing happened with the left side. I am assuming that both bulbs just happened to go out (and not something worse at work). I went down to a Kragen auto parts to grab new bulbs. The guy looked up my car info, and handed me some. I just went to go try and plug them in and the bulbs are completely different, wont fit in the socket.

So before I go back and get another set (they were cheap, so I am only out like $2), I am wondering if anyone here knows an exact model number to get. I tried looking online, but couldn't find any info. I wouldn't mind ordering them online if someone had a link.

Ask for 3157 or 3357, these are the same models.

Anyways what you need is double intensity bulb. First intensity for the parking light and the higher intensity for the brakes.

Nic.

also 1157 bulbs have raised bumps in them. they have to filliments in them so this only lets them go in right. if it wont work turn them 180degrees and try again

Ok, so which is it

The guy gave me 1157 bulbs, and they don't fit in the plugs (I have a 2000 Contour Sport, if that matters). The bottom of the stock bulbs have a small rectangular connector. The bulbs I purchased have just a cylindrical base. Is there an adaptor I need to purchase?

Are you sure you are pulling the turn signals, sounds like the running lamp. Mine is '97 and it runs the 1157/ 1156 mix as well.

Up front uses Sylvania 3457kNA Amber in color.
Rears use Sylvania 3157k.

You can use any brand name you want as long as they have the plastic rectangle connector. There is not adapter for the round metal bottom ones.

They changed connector style form Pre98 to Post98.

I would have looked in the manual, but I don't know where it is at this point, and I didn't know that an online version existed. I figured this was a great place to post to get info.

Just so anyone in the future needs to know, on the 2000 Contour, it uses 3157 lights for the rear.
