I have a 99 tour w/out the indash clock. If i buy the clock assembly is hard to recontent it?

I've already pulled out the existing trim with my LED and i don't have the connector for the clock.

I do have the wiring diagram, it's suppose to have 5 wires to the clock.

1 for the ground, that 1 should take from the radio;
1 for the PATS system, that i might run the wire from my existing LED;
1 for the lightning of the clock that i can take from the HVAC control;
2 powers from fuse #32 and 34 from the passenger compartment fuse box, that i might take from the always hot and power from my radio. These are probably for the power on and memory.

Am'I right????

Nic.

I just finished installing mine last night. Took all of about an hour to do. I just used the HOW-TO write up to install mine. Everything works great.

Thanks for the link, did you have the connector behind the bezel or did you have to solder the wires to the clock?
Cuz i don't have the connector, but might be able to get one at a scrapyard.

Thanks,

Nic.

I went to the scrap yard to get the clock and harness. It makes it alot easier to wire it into everything else.

Go to a computer repair shop & ask them if they have an extra CDROM-to-audio cable you can have (or if you're into computers , you may have one ) - they have 2 plugs , one on either end . Then (if you have to) just move the wires in their plugs & plug 'em into the clock & hook up according to the How-To . Easy as pie !

I've checked what i have from my old computer, is that something that can work?

But it's only 4 wires and i have the PATS, can i reuse the old connector for the PATS?

Otherwise i will go to a computer shop ans ask for it, thanks.

Nic.

The (computer) wire I used looked similar to the one on the right in your pic , but had 3 wires in it (red-<skip>-black-white) with a socket on either end (the same style socket) . I just popped any wires (from the black connector) out that didn't correspond with the back of the clock , and popped them the right spots . To make the needed 8-pin plug ,I simply used 2 CDROM-to-audio sockets stacked one on top of the other . Instant 8-pin connector !

Good i'm gonna try the 2 CD-ROM-to-audio.
I also took, from a 97 tour at the scrapyard this connector.

But the clock bezel is not the same, it's the 2 or 3 pieces one. So i'm not sureif this connector can fit on the 98 clock. It's an 8 pins with 4 wires in it. It has another connector for the PATS. Do you think it will fit?

When I was taking a quick look at FCO today, I saw someone who put the clock in, but somehow reversed the polarity and made the numbers black, with a blue background. Indiglo-like. Looked really hot .

Here it is:

(since it is a bmp, I can only put the link)
