The previous owner of my red 99' CSVT had tinted all the windows and part of the windshield with limo tint so I knew a ticket was coming. About 2 weeks ago I got ticketed while I was on my way to watch the steelers game, I figured I would be able to just pay the ticket, but when I got my ticket in the mail today they are asking for $250.00. I would gladly pay it if I knew it was just a one time fee but I dont want to risk this becomming a monthly thing. Anyways my question is how do I go about removing the tint and what materials would I need or how much am I looking at to get it removed at a tint shop. I would much rather do it myself so if anyone can post some tips on how to do this it would be greatly appreciated. Im gonna miss my limo tint so much

I think you have to scrape it off. Not sure though. About the ticket, i'd fight it. Take it to court and they'll likely drop it. Just tell them that you just bought the car and haven't had a chance to take the dark tint off, which is true. Even if they don't drop the charge, they'll reduce the fee. Then with the money you save, let that pay for some performance parts or some lighter window tint...

Check your state laws. In some states, you can only be ticketed for window tint one time, and after you pay your fine you are good to go. If this is the case, I would just pay the fine, if you like the dark tint. If not, removing tint is a [censored]. The tint isn't actually the problem, its the glue. If you want the tint removed, I recommend going to a shop and getting it re-tinted lighter, and they will remove the tint for you. Some shops charge extra some don't...Hope this helps, keep us updated on what you do, I'm curious...

I absolutely love the all black tint on this car, its exactly what I want. I really hope its a 1 time only ticket, I would just go ahead and pay it if that was the case. Thank you also for the removal guide, that was exactly what I was looking for. So far my plan is to go to court, Im gonna tell them I have my new front plate and try to explain that I just recently bought the car and cannot yet afford to spend any money on aesthetics. Hopefully Ill either receive a lesser ticket for the tint or maybe they might even drop it, I can also find out at this time if its a 1 time fee or not. Anyways thanks a lot for the feedback, this situation has been bugging me every time I look at that beautiful tint.
