What is the ideal launch RPM's on tours. I have an SVT if the Duratec vs. Zetec matters. I was just curious on the issue.

The RPM of the launch is equal to the slip of the clutch. 'nuff said!

For drag racing?? I've heard you should leave like you're leaving the grocery store and then nail it...

Try 2500 and go from there...

What kinda tires are you running?? The batter the tires, the harder you can launch it. But, if you start to get wheel hop, BACK OFF!!!

Spin =
Hop =

There are too many variables to give a numerical answer as to where the rpms should be at launch. You have to take into account the tire grip, the wear of the clutch, the track conditions, etc... The best way to figure it out would be practice, and do whatever works best.

Working the clutch out is way more important than launch rpms. You can get a strong launch from only 2k or so if you let it out a little slow then quickly. Just play around until you get a strong quick pull.

3300 with my 98.5 on BFG Traction T/A's

with the old duncraps I couldn't launch higher than 2500, and even then, i'd get nasty wheelhop from 6-7k.

Between 2000 and 3000. Normally around the 2500 will work best. Anything higher and you will probably start burning the clutch, due to the fact you have to slip it so much. Or you will just have mad wheel spin.

I usualy do what those drag hondas do and just stage with my right foot on the floor and just let it bounce off the rev limiter. and then when it goes green i just slip my foot of the side of the clutch pedal. Works everytime.
