I have no idea what your dealer is on about putting in a new program to fix that though ... I personally would ask them to explain what they mean. It's kind of vague sounding to me.
See prior posts regarding a recent TSB addressing P0420 and P0430 codes. The dealer did the (now) correct thing by reflashing the PCM.
As for ths shifter, the origninal poster might do well to find an independent shop. However, the replacement parts will likely have to come from Ford anyway.
