You can advance timing by doing the IAT mod. Not much advance but it does seem to help some cars. It tricks the IAT into thinking the air is colder than it actually is and advances timing. Others may have more info on this.
Only really affects part throttle settings.
It's also tuned out by the PCM & knock sensor in warm weather or hotter.
Meaning detonation is present. That is bad.
When the knock sensor kicks in it pulls more timing than you gain with this "mod"
