In the last 3 years I've put on 40,608.3 miles and used 1,408.2 gals. (I know I'm probably a little extreme, but I keep track of this stuff.)
The worst mpg reading was a quick fillup before a trip in January, 2000. 156.4 miles and 6.7 gals = 23.3mpg.
The best was last summer's vacation to Nova Scotia. The leg from Sussex, New Brunswick to Sydney, Nova Scotia was 372.4 miles and took 38.6 litres (10.2 gals) = 36.5mpg. Most of that was on the Trans-Canada Highway with the cruise set on 70mph (speed limit is 110km/h).
Just as an aside, the 38.6 litres cost $29.35 CDN or $19.53 US. That's $0.76 per litre or $1.91 US per US gallon. We've still got it easy in the states!
