I swapped a new motor into my SVT and since my speedometer has never worked at all. I don't remember ever unhooking a speedometer or reinstalling one. Does anybody have a picture or paint a picture for me with words where I should start looking on my car. I figure it's on the tranny, I've looked, but it's cold and dark after work and it would be so much nicer to have a good idea before I tackle this one.

the speedo is electronic unless you have a early production 95


this means your VSS, vehicle speed sensor is not working or connected, it is located on the back side of the trans

I have a 98svt so it must be electronic then. so if i'm looking at the transmission from the front of the car it should be on the backside of the tranny closest to the firewall?? can you get to this from the top of the car if you take out your mass air/cleaner assembly? I could really use a picture of the wire and end that goes to it b/c i can't find that either. Thanks for the help so far.

yes, your discription is correct and you woulr need to remove the intake to get to it from the top of the engine compartment

as for a picture I don't have one, and don't think I will easily be able to get one because of the temps here


best I can discribe it is on the top back side of the trans about in the middle I beleive

Thank you for all your help and advice Brapple, I found the two connectors unplugged, and now they are together and my speedo works!!! I love this site, I don't post often b/c I mostly just pick up good advice before I can give any...but I love it here, you guys are very helpful!!
