im new to the SVT contour scene and i wanna do some light modding. i saw some forums about removing the resonator and i wanted to know if anyone could tell me the process...ive removed resonators off of cars that were connected to the airbox...but never one off an exhaust system, im just alittle worried about the size of pipe i should use to reconnect it. if anyone knows anything specific about this please help.

Well i will put it this way. If you do this you will get some droon. And if you decide that your gonna put some highflow mufflers in the rear it will droon/rasp like crazy. IMHO i would cut the rear mufflers off and put str8 pipes on there and finish it off with some nice tips. This way you will not get any droon or rasp. If you do decide your gonna cut your res take it with you and let me know, I know someone in the chicago section looking for the stock res.

I don't mind the drone and my rasp goes away after the car warms up. but heard it is worse on an svt- i have an se. that is why I say take it to the muffler shop- they do dozens of custom jobs and can fix ya up so you have no drone and no rasp-I know people have done their exhaust and have no drone or rasp. there are mixed opinions. i know down here in Texas I have been told the res counts as a muffler- so your rear mufflers can be removed without worry of failing inspection. I would do a search in pics and vids and on exhaust and listen to what the differences are- then go with what you want to.

it always rasps, but only if you're on it. I notice it when I hit about 4k RPM. After that the engine is louder, atleast from where I'm sitting...on the highway it's not noticeable...but anyway, performance first. It is louder that's for sure, I have set off car alarms. It also sounds bad@$$ ad idle FWIW.

I had my resonator removed and when the Car first starts up on a cold morning(I live in Panama City florida , a cold morning is 65 degrees) The rasp is horrible Im looking for a way to get rid of it.. alot or people say it goes away when the engine warms up.. but i have driven from here to daytona, about 6 hours, pulled into my hotel gave it a little gas and the rasp was still there.. So i don't fall for the it goes away theory..not on my car at least

You think 65 is COLD ??? You gotta come out here to NY.
Got my SVT Cat-Back done last fall. When I start it up on a 5 deg F day, it rasps for about 3 blocks. Then it is quite until I turn it off.
I have a slight drone which is loudest at 2000 - 2500 rpm. Driving on the highway isn't that bad as long as you are doing 60+ mph. Cruising at 50 mph puts the rpms in the 2000 rpm zone.
But once you get on it, BOOYYEEEEEE !! People look and say WTFWT ?!!?
