i am clueless about systems!

My friend sold me 2 Memphis Audio 15 inch subs with box for $80!!

Well he told me they are dual voice coil and 600 Watts RMS. What amplifier should i get? i was told to get either a 1200 watt amp or a 1000 watt amp.

Are Boss amps good?? because i have found some pretty cheap 1000/1200 watt amps.

These are the amps i have found so far.

BTW, Whats the difference between 2 channel and 4 channel amps?? Which amp is the best out of those four??

Thanks,
Robert

OMG none of the above..

Lets put it this way.. using those amps would be like taking a 50hp VW beetle engine, slapping a lable that says "1200 peak horse power" on it and throwing it in a H2.
How much money are you looking to spend??

search for a JBL bp1200.1

not at all, it all depends on how low of ohm stability your amp can handle. And then what ohm load you put to it. Your ohm load is determined by how you wire your subwoofers. You could hook a few speakers to a Mono amp if you want if you wire them correctly so they work.

Check out this crash corse from our buddys at adire.

or for non-descriptive wiring diagrams check out this one

Stay away from chintzy brands like boss, audiobahn, pyle, lightning audio, etc. These brands have loose quality control standards, and you don't know what you're getting.
With your setup, it'll be a smart idea to get (power/gnd, and speaker) wires, a capacitor(eases your alternator's pain), and build. Without a foundation, your system will suffer immensely.
Brand names for amps I'd look at are: orion, crossfire, rockford, memphis, and alpine--not necessarrily in that order. I'd say go with a 1200w class D amplifier, because class d is more efficient.
Either way, it's all preference(sound quality vs. price), but please do yourself a favor and stay away from boss!!!

I think, I tinker, I play around, I build. '99 Contour W Ztc, ATX, HID Fog, mesh, A6, B LED, Big 3, Alpine cda-9827, Memphis lvs12 1200w, Alpine 1241, 4xInf K 6x8, Xfire 400/4, 7.2 LCD, glv box "xbox jack" mod, interior horn alarm mod
