I was just checking out www.newcougar.org, and stumbled on the pre/post dyno plot showing KKM gains.

HP gains were on average around 5hp, which I expected. The TQ was a solid 10 ft lbs higher though. Doesn't this seem excessive?

Is this at the wheels or at the flywheel?... Either way, I do find it hard to beleive, yes.

Since it's a dyno, it would be at the wheels.

Actually.... I thought freeing up intake/exhaust usually netted HP gains, but TQ didn't benefit usually. Whole backpressure thing. Unless freeing up the intake only does improve TQ?

all I will say, is that the numbers stated are not consistant w/ many dyno comparisons previously done, including one I did on my own car.

It's all about balance.

When I dynoed same day within 20 min. or so of each run, I replaced stock filter and MAF with the KKM and 73mm and got peak gains of 6.8 hp and 6.2 tq with an avg gain of 3.2 & 3.4 respectively accross the rev range. Not 10, but not too shabby either.

LBVSVT, are you using a 73mm MAF housing? or a whole replacement such as the Pro M?

If its just the housing w/ the stock electronics on top, is the housing from a Mustang? Thanks

Just the housing with the stock electronics bolted back on. I doubt it's from the Mustang - the word "Vortech" is stamped into it - I think the official name for it is a "C&L Vortech 73mm MAF" and I bought it from kustomz.com when they used to sell it ..... I just referred to the printout from their website and they called it a "Maxflow 73mm MAF". confused The stock screen needs to be removed for it to fit, but from what GM has done on the Z06 that's a good thing!!
