Auto-Rx

I (like many of you) are extremely hesitant to put anything other than good oil into my engine. We all know the phony claims and in some cases engine damage caused by snake oils like Slick 50, Duralube, Prolong, Motor Up, etc. One the most hardcore scientific Oil disscussion sites out there is Bobistheoilguy has about 2 years worth of positive feedback about Auto-Rx to include oil analsis labrotories. It has NO detergents or solvents in it, it's 100% natural. It's not friction reducer, the stuff simply dissolves carbon.

I ordered a bottle of it for my Cougar and after finishing I can straight up tell you stuff is great. About 2 MPG more (steady) and the engine does seem to pull a bit harder.

Bear in mind these are the reults on a *well maintained* engine that was raised on nothing by Mobil 1 5w-30, with 5k oil change intervals, with a current mileage of 63k.

Bottom line, I'd strongly reccommend Auto-Rx to anyone, this stuff works exactally as advertised and benifits can be had on even the most well cared for engine.

I ordered a bottle...have it right here on my desk...but the thought of running dino oil in my SVT is making me hesitant...I've run M-1 5-30 and 0-40 the life of the car.

Did you run it as directed?

Yes I ran it exactally as directed. You can use Synthetic oil for the cleaning phase but for the rinse phase it's nessicary to use dino oils. The Esters in Synthetic oil's coat the engine making it tough to clean off the carbon. You only need to run dino oil for 1500 miles, trust me it wont hurt you motor or negativly effect the steady diet of Mobil 1 you have been feeding it.

For the rinse phase, I'd reccommend using either Castrol GTX, Cheveron, or Shell dino oil.

Ive used it last year and was quite happy with the results. The truck is going to get it when it gets back on the road, hopefully it will clean my rings and bump my compression back up.

My 2.5L had no internal build up at all with 35-40k miles using Mobil 1. No speculation as I actually tore the engine apart.

Also if your engine did have significant build from neglect and improper maintenance then would not removing that build up make the engine more prone to leaks and possible oil starvation. (that debris and build up has to flow through the system before it reaches the oil filter )

I guess (if I were interested) I'd have to read more up on the product but anything that claims to "clean out" your engine has it's drawbacks when used on an engine that "needs" cleaning.
However most "well maintained" engines do not require internal cleaning anyway.

Also any power or efficiency claims also need to be looked at with a logical mind.

DemonSVT-- Auto-Rx actually *liquifies* the carbon, and it does this slowly over the course of 1000's of miles. It's nothing like the *risky* engine cleaners loaded with harsh detergents you run for 10 mins in your oil and drain. Even on well maintained engine's that use Synthetic oils you still get a buildup of carbon on the ring packs. Sludge prone engine's (Toyota V6's and Volkswagon 1.8's for examples) and badly mistreated engine with heavy sludge build up have had great results with Auto-Rx and I have yet to hear of so much as even 1 story of engine failure due to a clogged oil pump while using Auto-Rx. I combed through Bobistheoilguy and Auto-Rx forums looking for horror stories or someone to expose it as yet *another* snake oil. I had the same *well earned* sterotype and apprehension as you do. I found nothing but positive feedback and questions. The FAQ on Auto-Rx's website is quite through and covers almost every conciveable logical question that would come to mind before using a product of it's claims. The forums elaborate even more.

I highly respect your knowledge and skill when it comes to cars. Your one of the first guys I'd consult if I had a problem or needed something answered. I dont believe in miracles in a bottle either, but Auto-Rx from of own personal application and countless testmonials from others (including several indapendant oil analsis labs and guys who know enough about oil to bore a chemist to tears) this stuff is the real deal.

Find info on the 0w30 GC yet? I really enjoy it. Almost instant oil pressure, wear charistics are excellent (I have seen a few on there go on 10,000 mi OCIs. My last service passed 6600 of city only driving, through the spring, hot summer and into the winter and when it came out it had just barely died.

Im hoping to get to 7K on the next service.

I'm running it (0-30 GC) as well. The engine is much quieter running on this oil...I really couldn't believe the noise differance. I've got almost 4000 miles on the oil, and it still looks clean. I'm a BITOG freak as well...

So, what is the consensus on this stuff? I have 114K on my SVT and have never run synthetic(When I bought it at 87K it was on dino and I didn't want to switch then). I have no leaks or any other problems, but would it be worth it use this stuff anyway given the mileage, or is it risky/pointless if there are no apparent problems? Also, no one has discussed the cost/benefits of using it on your tranny/diff...Any opinions? I am tempted to buy some, and I figure if I do I might as well give my tranny the treatment also. The website is pretty good, but of course they will not give any negative info, so what are everybody's honest KNOWLEDGABLE thoughts?
