With the way that belt is layed out, I'm sure he will get vast amounts of belt slippage, resulting in less PSI than expected.

I gaurantee he'll get more than 40hp. Come on 10 psi.
i'd be impressed if he can maintain 10 psi reliably running it off the engines serp belt.
I get 8-9 psi all day!

I dont think hell get a lot of slippage - not the best way of doing it - and I suspect hell be going through alternaters fairly often as he is using it likean idler. the belt has over 1/2 pulley wrap - thats not going to slip too often

What he said. Looks like plenty of wrap for a small blower. He might have slippage problems if he tries to crank the boost beyond 12 psi or so though.
I'll also agree on the alternator, he runs a pretty high risk of eating alternator bearings.

He's not done with it. He knows the belt layout isn't the best. He's working on a solution. At least something to add some tension. Post

I've been thinking, there are other ways to turn a blower other than a belt. In hydraulics, you can use a pump (whether driven off the motor or powered electrically by a little Baldor motor) to supply fluid to a hydraulic motor which then converts the fluid power to rotary motion. This would drive the blower. This would make the blower a remote set-up. You could remote mount the DC motor & pump anywhere you want (trunk??? as a little power unit). The hyd motor would have to remain with the blower and it too could be mounted anywhere you want ducting air to the TB. Also, you could keep the blower spooled up full time--Air on all the time. Still, I don't know how feasible all this would be but I thought I'd get the creative juices flowing. Regardless, space is an issue. Incidentally, I work for a fluid power distributor.

its an idea paul - but remember that a blower like an m90 at full rpms can take up to 100hp to run - the M90 doesnt but for instance the blower on the jag R's takes just over 100 hp to run at full rpms.
