I have the KKM also. Though I didn't have any problems, I reinstalled it anyway. I removed the rubber surround and clamped it inbetween the MAF and MAF adapter. BAT has a gasket available for non-SVTs. I'd just buy the screen from Ford (or wherever; it's just plain stainless steel mesh) and do what I did. .

Not that I know of. The dyno I go to doesn't have an A/F monitor. Yes, it is the C&L - check my post under 10lbs ft of TQ (a recent post by someone) for dyno #'s. I do notice the car tends to buck on low throttle, low speed conditions but I don't know if that's what causes it - could be the lack of the screen due to the C&L. Based on what JSmith is saying I'll have to try putting it back on though.

I found this reading upon my new Z06. Interesting, since the SVTs intake has a straight shot into the throttle body. smile

6-8" of 'straight' tube before the MAF = no screen, less than that = use a screen...

Another verse for the Contour bible wink

I have an SVT's MAF screen in my Cougar, and my car runs much better with it installed.

Any car with a MAF,no screen and a cone type 'direct onto maf' set up needs that amount of straight pipe ......

FWIW, I talked awhile back to the guy at Kurtz Kustoms about "adding back" the screen (I actually had installed in my KKM). He said they had spent alot of time testing various shapes for the KKM MAF meter adapter so as to get the proper "voltage" without the screen and that it should be left off. Still do not exactly understand this but thought I would relay what was said. I took screen out and noticed no change either way (screen in or out).
