Thanks irda, and now back to our story....

So today I looked thru several dealer lots at the Troy Motor Mall and around 18 and Van Dyke. I saw a great '02 ZX3 at Dean Sellers Ford, but it was many thousands too expensive--I need to stick with 2000 and 2001 model years. But damn that car drove great!!!! Alias, you were definately right about sticking with a ZTS or ZX3! I fell in love with the Zetec all over again---not that I wouldn't mind a V6 mind you, but that's a story for another day.

Forgot to mention this last night... so I'm talking to the salesman at Dean Sellers and he asks "what are you currently driving?"...and I tell him a 96 contour...he replies: "oh yeah, I had a 95 until the tranny blew on it"

I almost bust out laughing! Anyway, I might try to hit a couple of places on the way home from work Monday, wish me luck!

So I went to my sister's place to visit her family and while I was there I would check my car. So I figure I'll start it up and see how bad the tranny shifts. I fire up the engine and this thing sounds like nothing I've ever heard, it was horrible!!! When I tried the shifter, it sounded like a lot of broken hunks of metal smashing into each other. I quickly shut it off and got out of the car.

What a sad ending for a car that has been reliable for so long.

Ditto and BTW Paul, I didn't know you had two kids. I was actually serious about the Regal, but that will be sometime till its for sale. I can see you in a Focus and I'm sure you'll be able to find a good ZX3 w/ MTX around

i 2nd that statement, finaly ford is making decent cars that we can afford and mod

you got a loan from a credit union, so it doesn't have to go through dealer.. it could be private sale.
i searched for a focus before getting my contour, and there were a lot of cheap ones on autotrader and local papers, with low mileage. i guess the only thing you might get from slealership is warranty on the car which is nice.

I'd rather buy from a dealer. They have a reputation to up hold and aren't going to sell you something that's going to have known issues. Also if you do have an issue with the car you somewhere to bring it back to. I'm talking Ford dealerships not mom & pop places. Now having the car properly repaired thats another story.

i wouldent go that far, ricart ford is known for good deals on used cars, because they mark up the car so much to deal it down to make you feel you got a deal. any car dealership is gonna rip you in some way, new or used i def would recomend a focus since thats what ford replaced our car and the escort and zx2 with, consolidating 3 cars into one they had to make something decient.

hey, thanks for selling me the CTA and Coil, we installed it in the parking lot LOL. I LOVE the sound of it, and it pulls harder now to. Was there any different bolts for the coil? or can I use my stock ones?

(Side note how much for that header panel and those lights? Why can't you have a black '96, for shame )

Can anyone tell me how to remove the header panel?? I'd use the service manual CD I bought, except my computer is not working right now.
