Ok. Found the part on SLM's site, and here's the info.

That is the coolant temp sensor, he needs the coolant temp sender. The two of them are completely different.

There was nothing listed as a sender, on the SLm site I'm assuming that is because the sensor send the temp info just like a failing O2 sensor...

Hi, is it normal in the M-A-L area in a zetec or do I have to replace my thermostat to a lower setting also

There are 2 of them, both go into the thermostat house.
They both function as sensors and parts stores like to call them different names to aid confusion.
The one you need is pointing DOWNWARDS.

It'd be too easy to replace the other one...

I believe that the part number is F7CZ-10884-BA- it is listed as in-line 4 temp sender, 98-00. $17.83. Hope that helps.

Where did you find that I need the '95-'98 item number.

It is on Bill Jenkins website- http://www.signaturelm.com/. Then put in your model, year, and make. It is under the mechanical tab, then under gauges, horn, switches, and wipers. Click on gauges, then "water temp sender or switch". All the items listed on there are 98 or later though, so you might want to send bill an e-mail or PM and get the part though him.
