Perhaps the ex cam is still severely retarded? Might want to try a compression check.

The computer should do its own internal checks each time you turn the key. Maybe (does anyone know for sure?) you could disconnect the TPS and see if the computer sets a code while cranking.

Are you getting 12 volts to the coil? Are you getting a spark at the plugs?
