Like what?

Oh, by the way, the 85-86 Bears won more games than the Dolphins did in 72-73.

What's your point? The Dolphins would have lost at least one of two 'extra' games in 72-73.

Now as an overall "team" the Patriots rank well but again not nearly the "best dynasty"

I agree, but when you consider a Salary Cap now, in addition to all the trading that now occurs between seasons, this team clearly ranks up in the Top 5 (IMO).

Sure, no one could possibly contend with the '72 Dolphins, or the '85 Bears. Those teams are legendary. However with another Superbowl win this year (I'd say chances look good), I think they've entered into "Legendary" Status.

Remember the 21 Game Winning Streak!

What the Pat's have done is truly amazinging in this day and age. Just look at the last 2 games against the Colts and Steelers. These are 2 completely different teams: Colts had the #1 Passing Offense, and Steelers #1 Rushing Offense. The Patriots were able to STOP both of these major offensive weapons, and force the teams to adjust as needed. The Patriots coaching staff is incredible, and prepares their players like no other teams I've ever seen.

Clearly they are a Dynasty, and they do it as a team. Nothing was more impressive than the New England Patriots taking the field in the 2001 Super Bowl, as a Team.

Well, this particular team hasn't lost a playoff game for one. This could be 3 Super Bowls in 4 years during a time where building a dynasty was thought to be impossible. Then there is the longest winning streak in NFL history. Brady's knack for doing what he has to do every game and nearly every play is uncanny. At some point, this team of largely unheralded players is going to start getting the individual credit they deserve.

Oh, and BTW, you saying that the Dolphins would have lost a game is purely projecting with absolutely no basis. I honestly believe they weren't the best team in NFL history but you have to give them credit, they have undeniably the best record in NFL history.

This NE team is starting to approach the greatness of the 49ers. I didn't think I would see that day.

Just trying to stir a lively debate.

An excellent point and the same thing can be said about the Ravens in 2000. They had a nasty defense, right up there if not better than the 85 bears but their Trent Dilfer led offense was doody. 85 bears offense was lead by the flamboyant but not so talented Jim McMahon. Traditionally in the NFL the QB has been a guy who is pretty level headed. McMahon was the Terrell Owens of the QB position. A great self promoter but not such a good QB. I would like to see a comparison of Corey dillon's career stats to Walter Payton's. Very similar players from the perspective of playing for bad teams. Payton played on a ton of terrible bears teams before going to the super bowl. Bottom line is that Patriots are probably one of the most well rounded teams of all time.

Lastly I love my patriots, but I have a hard time calling them a dynasty if they win the Super Bowl this year because they didn't even make the playoffs in 2002. They got knocked out on the last day of the season by the jets who weren't in 1st place at all the entire season until they pulled off a miracle win against a strong Green Bay team on the last day of the season.

The best team in history discussion can't go too far without bringing up that Steelers team of the 70's. Four Super Bowl wins in 6 years; is that good?

LOL The Arizona Cardinals haven't lost a playoff game for a while either. That doesn't mean they're a dynasty.

Hollywood Henderson (coked outta his mind)

Just teasing. Those were some nasty Pittsburgh teams.
