You beat me too it. Robert Mumm stripped gears left and right on his race cougar. You should have seen his replacement gears  nice stuff.

The gears they stripped were 2&3. Only Leo had a problem, Robert never did. He had a new set made before that even happened $$$. Leo ran the 4.5 final drive, which they believe was part of the problem, plus high rpm.

11s? Hell with the HP out there no one has broken into the 12s yet, and what, two or three have gotten past the mid-13s. So, that isn't a question that can be answered yet.

Tom Lesperance of Focus-Power.com ran 11.88 at the Atlanta Ford Fun Weekend. He has over 400whp on a fully built Zetec, pushing around 30psi. On stock Focus axles I believe and 2 year old drag radials BFG G-Force Drag Dadials(DOT)tires. The main thing is he was using a prototype Lentech automatic Focus tranny. I don't know if the Lentech Focus tranny would fit the Contour. His Focus also weighs 3000lbs with him and a body kit.
RWD isn't nessesary, but either way it's a lot of work.

Keep an eye out, as you will see an 11 second Contour in the next couple of years, and yes it will have a Duratec under the hood.
