He was breaking axles and shifter mostly. Some of that info is used from Leo's input as well. Direct quote from Robert in an email,

We added some snap rings to keep the gears from moving with the side load, and lapped the gears in so they would mesh easier those were the only problem we had with them, never stripped any teeth.
Ya I guess Robert and Leo had a little falling out.
