I use Castrol GTX...

IMO you're just as well off to change the oil at say 3k. I think that you're better off getting the dirty oil out and getting fresh oil in more often. But I know i'll probably get flamed for saying that...
Yea, I know that was somewhat off topic...

Interesting that AMS Oil authorizes that page...

What's to discuss? That "testing" nonsense is pure marketing BS IMO. Who did it? Who funded it? Who provided the samples? To pull a quote, "I can take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed; I've got spare time."

Everyone knows that AMSOIL, Mobil 1, etc are good products, but to take results from a "test" conducted by one of the manufacturer's who proclaim their product as superior based on those tests, is foolish.

Well then don't let empirical evidence get in your way.

I use independant testing and real oil analysis results not self marketing propaganda.

Heck if everyone used marketing information FRAM would be really popular. ohhh.

I really do think AMSOIL makes a high quality product. It would recommend it as a product. It's just not the end all be all like the "groupies" think.
I have nothing against it personally but a lot of their "information" is extremely skewed and also can be taken from "skewed" testing.

I'm just trying to see peoples opinions on the subject. I know what people in the diesel community say and feel about amsoil.

Oh and about marketing BS....whens the last time you've seen an Amsoil commercial on the TV or radio?

I thought I'd get flamed by you Demon I guess there might be a pinch of love in ya

I think amsoil should use this as there new advertising catch phrase:

"Use our oil if you want your 5W30 to thicken to honey in 9,000 miles"

http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stories/oil-life.html

Quote:

This 5W30 oil has now thickened out to a 15W40 -- argue whether it matters if you like, but we believe engine builders spec an oil for a reason, and this oil is far, far thicker now than intended for the LS1. Switching to our flush Mobil 1 netted a nearly instant 10% improvement in fuel economy, and the engine runs a heckuva lot smoother too
