Insurance normally doesn't care what engine, repair, brand, etc.

They normally cut you a check, make you sign a release, and they're done.

The only time they truly care is if you go to an "approved place" on their list and have to warranty said repairs. Certain companies stand behind the repairs for the life of the car if you go this route.

Yeah, you guys know the drill pretty well. In this case, my insurance company has cut one check made out to both me and the shop. This joint check will be endorsed by both of us and the shop gets paid to do whatever I want done.

I suppose I could pay them for what they've done so far, tear down etc, take the balance and have something else swapped in by whoever and for whatever the best deal I could find would be.

If I get the 3.0 I'll probably have to pull it out of there since I'm not too sure if they are capable of this, or willing for that matter.

It's time to really shop around and compare prices for parts as well as labor. If I could come out of this with some cash left over for extra "stuff" that would be sweet.

Who knows maybe a SUPERCHARGER or something.

The shop wants to charge me 2,400 for a 2.5l (SVT) with 53k on it. And 1k to install plus around 300 for misc parts.

They want 2,900 for a remanufactured 2.5l plus 300 for misc parts and 1,500 in labor.

They'll get mine remanufactured for 2,400 pluss 300 in other parts and 1,500 in labor.

They haven't given me quotes on a 3.0 yet but I can just imagine.
I'm still trying to get in touch with Bill Jenkins, Terry Haines, or anyone else who can give me real numbers.
This sounds insane.
