Hi gang,

When veiwing photos of my soon-to-be 2000 CSVT, I noticed that the tach redline looks like it is at 6,800 or so. Some earlier SVT's I drove redlined at 7,000 I think. Did they change the redline and/or rev limiter on the 99 or 2000 SVT?

Thanks!

All CSVTs redlined at 6750 RPMS. You can chip the car and raise the redline to 7250 RPMS. Doing this will slice almost a second off your run to sixty, because with the stock computer you will have to make an upshift to third around 56 MPH.

OK, what is the soft limiter? I think fuel cut off is the hard limiter.

Soft limiter is the first artifical one, the one you'll feel when you miss a shift at redline and it bangs the engine for a second or two. Example:

vvvvvVVVVVRRRROOOOO-O-O-O-O-O [shift]mmmmm....

Yeah, there's better illustrations. I just don't feel like posting a video.

Greg knows more about this than I do though, so I'm sure he'll chime back in.

Soft limiter is timing pull.

Hard limiter is fuel cut.

There is a separate limiter altogether for neutral.

Matter of fact depending on the year there are 4-7 different Scalar limiters plus 1 Function limiter.

The new code/PCM, like mine, can be set up to have a two stage rev limiter. (like launch control)

a generic chip wont do squat, you have to have a custom one burned, by say adc, thats who i went through, keith is really great to work with, very helpful, i had my rev limiter raised, i know that right now its worthless, but i was looking down the road........just in case, than i wont have to send it back to be re-flashed......now i'm just waiting to get the damn thing

i've always heard the adc custom burn chip was the was to go and for the most part it is. adc will get you the best chip custom burned for your car. at $450 its a bit pricey.

i have a superchips chip in my 2000 csvt . unfortunity the clutch when out before i installed the chip so i have no idea what it does across the powerband. the only thing i was able to do was notice the raised rev limter that i only reved to about 7,200 rpm but hey thats above stock cut off. the chip i have was said to have come from sp motorsport once upon a time i have no paper work for the chip .

it was also said to raise the revlimter to 7,500 rpm . the code on the chip reads something to the effect of xgt1_rs i have no idea what the _rs stands for something to do with what generation of the xgt1 chip for the 2000 csvt. maybe demon could elaborate on the subject hopefully. you will need a chip programed to the xgt1 code for a 2000 csvt along with making the jump port mod to make the chip operational.

i'll know what it does when i get my car back next week from the tranny shop. which turned out to be more than i had bargined for . but looks like now i'll have a torsen install when all it said and done which is cool.

i heard demon say that one time,so i went with them actually it only cost 375+6 for shipping, its really about the same price as getting a cb through jetchips or something, plus your working with a company thats a little more familar with our cars
