The 5.1 earthquake in question is about six miles from my house. It didn't wake me up, but I'm probably the only case in upstate NY. The only damage our house sustained was a couple bricks shifting on the chimney. From what my parents said though, our walls were flexing. I've always been a very deep sleeper.
