well if u cant come to cali....cali will come to u
u probably dont have the shear number of faults in your area(s) that we have here which can maybe be good and bad...
for one no earthquakes will mean that your area will not prepare for such events thru building structures made to roll with the quake as we do here....which means a moderate size quake such as a 5.1 will cause more damage on the eastcoast than it will cause here
two, if u have no 'shakers' to let off pressure on the faults then u may be building up to a big one as they keep telling us here is imminent one day (big meaning in our case greater than 7.5 -8.0 magnitude)
and as far as im concerned u never quite get used to them as u never know when a slight tremor will turn into the BIG ONE
