It has been brought to my attention that MY98.5 Contour, Mystique and Cougar may have a clearance issue with the fuel tank. The drivers side sway bar bracket may not have enough material removed to clear the fuel tank. The sub-frame will not bolt into place if this is the case.

Only the first batch of sub-frames is affected, the second and third batches have been modified to correct this potential issue. The sub-frames listed with BAT came from the second batch so their units will not have any issues.

MY99 and up are not affected and should not have any issues with clearance.

Those who have received the sub-frame and own a vehicle MY98.5 or older should remove a small amount of material from the sway bar bracket for clearance, this should be less than 1/8" on the inboard side of the sway bar bracket.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I wish I had known about this before you shipped my sub-frames from the first batch. I could have waited for them, and with a 1998 SVT Contour (produced 09/97) and a 1998.5 Contour SE Sport (produced 08/98) it would have been better to get my sub-frames from a later batch.
