Yes cleanned out the upper and lowwer intake manifolds durring the repairs. They were VERY dirty and a real pain to clean. Used a commercial parts cleaner - forget what it is called as a get a gallon or so a year from a local engine rebuilding shop but it is water rather than xylene based and still cleans out the carbon deposits. Got really keen and used a dremel tool to clean up the intake ports a little as well as there we a couple of bumps in the casting....
Read an MSDS sheet on xylene, (the main component of most "carb" and throttle body, fuel injector cleaners) and it will curl your hair...
