I finally after 3 1/2 years got into my high schools metal shop class. :-) I talked with the instructor and he and I came to an agreement that I can bring in a hood and put what I would call functional hood scoops. I have come up with a few ideas on what I can do. One is build only an offset one on the driver side above the filter. I am also going to make an alumium heat shield for the conical filter. The only problem is, I think one offset one is going to look well stupid, simply put. If I make an even set the other opening will not really do anything but blow air over the coolant resivor. Which I guess could help. The other option is to do one middle one, but would this be effect as the one over air filter? I know it will flow air over the manifold, but I'm not running any endurance race. The thrid option is to do all three (one on either side and one in the middle). This could just become a major under taking with only about 40 minutes of work time each day. Any opinions would be great! And my thoughts on design are for a middle scoop, it would be a single bubble with maybe 2 support rods in the middle. The sides ones are possibly going to be 2 pipes running parallel to the roof. Thats harder to explain. If I get time I'll try to photo shop an example of my vision.
