It has always been my understand that if you damage other property such as guard rails telephone polls etc. that you have to pay to fix them. My exhusband hit a guard rail one time and damaged his truck and the first thing the insurance company asked was if he damaged the guard rail which he didn't but I asked her why and she told me that he would have to pay to fix it if necessary.
