Hi All. I've been pretty quiet lately.
Today at 3:00pm the worst thing that could ever happen to me, happen.
I was driving with my friend's brother up to conestoga college, to go and look at their job board, to hopefully get a good job.
I was driving on Kings Road, which is between Roseville and New Dundee. I went through this bend in the road, and a car comes barrelling towards me. There was a path in the middle of the road, and the sides were mostly snow covered. I moved over, and the contour kept sliding... it hit a telephone pole. I was travelling at no more then 40 km. it hit the front right corner. I got out, and screamed some obscenities pretty loud. Initial damage, Front bumper - crushed in, fender - front all bent, inner fender - bent and broken, hood - tiny bit bent, bracket on frame - bent alittle, lights - they need to be replaced, bra - ripped and torn to sh!t.
I must say, this is mostly all cosmetic, and it handled it pretty well.
I called the kitchener claims line, they said "All our agents are currently busy, please call back at a later time"... ok .. i'm in a car... it's gettting colder.... this is the most convenient time...
I call their 'after hours 24 hour claim hotline', i get a guy who helps me through the whole process of getting a body shop and tow truck service lined up. To tell you the truth, you aren't thinking about that when you're sitting there, nor do you care. Finally the tow truck guy comes. He's ok, he tried using the word 'sic' in a few places. he was about 30 years old, i think he just learned that people use that word.
Now we're sitting in the big tow truck, the driver says 'wow, we better call the police, look at the pole!'... yeah, it wasn't straight anymore. I'm damn pleased i did damage to something else. Stupid jerks. WHO PUTS A POLE THERE?!?!?! The driver also mentions, If it's regional police who come, i can get careless. NICE .. Start Anxiety attack .... now.
The cops come and stuff, I talk with them, and tell them my story. they give me an accident report, and that's it. I was amazed. I walked back and said 'thanks' to the cops, and we drove off with the car, in tow.
The auto body shop that was chosen for me was Kieswetter Mazda. They're supposed to be the best. Alright, the best is good enough for me.
We got there, and Tim (the auto body manager) is wonderful. Great guy. He says to go inside sit down, relax, etc etc. Alright. So I'm sitting there looking at Mazda Stuff, and checking out all these neat little gadgets. Finally my rental comes. The Car Jockey, is a hot little thing. She went to Conestoga, the same time as me. We run through the whole thing with me flirting with her all the time, etc etc. I ask for something better and better. I end up with a Mazda 3. I'm bummed. I MAZDA FRICKING THREE! Oh well.. I better be cool.. after all she said "AWwwwwwwwwwwwww, come on! It's pretty coool!" .. lol.. I figured, I'm far from home, i need a damn car, don't be picky.
It turned out ok. I can do a 180 spin from reverse to forward really easily.
I left, and got home around 6:30.
so, i spent 3 hours screwing around with this.
Not bad i guess. What a pain.. I hope my baby is alright. The engine is strong.. everything works. etc.
i have a $500 deductible i gotta pay for still... damn it...
*Edit* - At least I get all the stone chips, and stuff fixed up on the bumper and the hood. WOOHOO... But it's costing me... DOH!

Sorry to hear about this. Good luck on the repairs and if there is any problem getting a bumper skin I happen to have a spare one that needs a home.

Thanks MBB41! It's Very Much appreciated!!!
I've been driving the Mazda 3 for a while... about 2 hours. It's not a bad car. Except it has all these gizmo's and cool dash stuff, and it has roll up windows.. WHAT'S WITH THAT? ... The Automatic Manual mode, is a bit sluggish... but what can be expected?

I could have told you that. I actually quite liked the 3 and 6 line when I test drove tham. Granted I drove the MTX variants.

I just hope you don't get a bill for the telephone pole. Buddy of mine took out a hydro pole ( freezing rain ) and he got sent a bill after. The best part ? His dad works for hydro and there wasn't a chance in hell in getting out of it.

HAHAH .. Heck I dunno What's gonna happen.. After the whole thing, I looked at the pole, and I was pretty dang impressed. LOL.. There's only a percentage of people who can actually say they took a pole out. We'll see, it appears these poles are gonna be replaced in the future. They're ancient compared to everything else.

Scary that this is all it takes to write off a car of this vintage.
