Hey, this is for all the BC (Fraser Valley)Contour-ists.

Just got my 98SE sport thru aircare and now for the past
couple of days the ABS light comes on when you first start the car in the morning and then turns off as soon as you start driving. This happens evey time you start the car.

Will this just go away eventually or do I need to reset the PCM?

Also anyone know of anyplace that will do a no charge OBDII
code read?

thanks

I don't have ABS but search undertroubleshooting for that problem, I've seen it before.

No no big box store that I know of will do it for free. My dad found a small time place (chilliwack) for $30 which ain't bad. When I get ahold of a laptop and knowhow of my obd2 unit, I could pull a code for you.

Congrats on passing (you lucky little...)

Do you guys have any large auto parts stores near you. Like Napa, Schucks/Checkers/Kraggen(think thats the last one). Most of them will pull the codes for free, cause they know you will probably buy the parts at their store for fixing the problem.

Recet the PCM, it may make them go away. As for the ABS light it might be cause of water or dirt, take the sensors off, they are located near the calipers on the back side, make sure not to over tighten the bolt on reinstall. I did that once and it was a b.... getting the screw tip out and finding a contour at the junk yard that had abs.

Yeah I was thinking about making my own code reader too.
There are some circuits out there. And I've got a laptop that I can use.

I think I'll call Napa or Lordco to see if they have a free or cheap service like that.

thanks for the input.
I did read something about the light going away after a bit
when someone had done the dyno thing on their car and the same happend to them. I think it must have something to do with the front wheels turning but not the rears.

I'll give it a couple of days.

Just a follow-up.

The third day after Aircare the ABS has returned to normal.
Turns on when you first start the engine ... and turns off shorly after.

Thanks for the help
