I removed the PCM and superchip today. Cleaned the connectors really well using a green scrubby. Also used a really really soft sandpaper type cloth on the chip connector to clean out any possible contanimants. Reconnected everything back up and when I goto start the car I hear a very strange noise coming from the solinoid? And of course the car doesn't start. So I disconnected everything, verified I hooked everything back up correctly. Turned the key and still nothing.
By this time I'm getting a bit frustrated. So I removed the superchip and now the car starts up w/no problems. Put the chip back on and same problem.
What could have possibly gone wrong? I grounded the chip to the chassis before installing. I removed the ground wire from the battery before doing anything each time.
From the post above it says something needs to be jumpered. Is it possible that before my chip wasn't making a good connection and now that it does it wants that jumper? The sticker on my superchip says it's for a '99 SVT (was originally bought through KKM). According to the guy I bought it from he had it programmed to an XGT1 computer, which I reverified that I have.
Any ideas on what to try? Should I send it in to either superchip or kkm to see if it can be tested? Should I try it on another pcm to see if it's mine? Or should I look at eBay for selling it. (hah)
Thanks
Tim
